Hodge-Podge Week
The semester started…and it’s just kept going and going. I’ve been playing a little bit of catch-up in school since I was sick as well, so it’s been a little hectic. Anyways, I get in these modes where I’m all about productivity. Isaiah sometimes sings the “Better, faster, stronger…more productive” line from Radiohead…and from there he usually breaks into full song and dance, “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” by Daft Punk. It’s entertaining. Usually I get a nice little back-dance out of it…the alternative to the lap dance that allows me to continue working.
I had to break out of productivity mode. Ironically, I wasn’t getting anything done.
Isaiah came up with the brilliant idea to walk to downtown Denton last weekend, so we trekked the mile to the square. I cannot explain to you how culturally fascinating Denton is. It’s a musical hotbed and definitely worth diving into.
We spent the day browsing around Recycled Books, a comic store and got some frozen yogurt.
Isaiah and I got a chance to chat with his mom too…and eat some potato skins…seriously, how long has it been since you had potato skins? We are huge “How I Met Your Mother” fans as well…if you are too, you’ll remember…potato skins.
I’m fully aware of how pissed off I look in this photo…but Isaiah likes it…so I suppose I’m forcing it on you for that reason.
Anyways, after we walked about Denton, we decided that we need to get out more. We’ve become little worker-robots lately…between school, job hunting, freelance stuff, ctrlP and the blog, we haven’t done a whole lot of extracurricular shtuff.
If you don’t know who Sarah Jaffe is, you should certainly find out. She’s a Denton-made, indie heartbreaker. Her song “Clementine” is one of my favorites. She is breaking out in a DJ enterprise right now, and she threw, what turned into, a hipster-kid-dance-party at a badass venue out here.
They had $1 champagne…I know, random.
This is kind of a hodge-podge post, so I apologize for the erratic photos.
We could go on and on about our little munchkin cats. They’re unusually awesome. Don’t believe me? Our kitties, just being as cute as always. Biggie and Tupac are always cuddling next to each other and fighting like little ninjas.
Check out Tupac’s little Stretch Armstrong arms…
Isaiah and I had a mattress-in-the-living-room-on-the-floor-lazy-celebration week. And yes, Biggie hangs out like this every day, every time I sit.
Beyond that. We were freshly pressed on WordPress this week! If you’re not on WordPress, they put your post up on the front page with other selections. We were up for the entire weekend and our site got some wicked stats because of it! It was so exciting. I’m still a little wired.
Sorry for the lack of meat, this week has been a little crazy. In the meantime, enjoy the music.
our weekends are very similar my dear! ours almost always include comic book stores, ice cream, cat time and bookstores. hooray for us!
also, I need more daft punk in my week days 🙂
hooray for us, indeed! ice cream is my favorite. sadly.
I spend my weekends combing and scouring through bookstores for graphic books too. Its immensely satisfying – not to mention, financially depleting.
By the way, that’s how I chanced upon your blog actually, it was on freshly pressed 🙂 Good thing too, otherwise I’d never have known better.
p.s Thanks to How I Met Your Mother, Potato skins now have a sexual reference to testicular proportions. Eeeks.
FOR SURE. How I Met Your Mother has made EVERYTHING better. or, you know..it’s just a show…sigh.
good thing, for sure! we were just talking about how much we love your blog as well, lady! keep writing!
Dear Lizzie, seems like you had such a beautiful weekend! I love frozen yogurt. 🙂 You little kitties are soo adorable!! Have a lovely merry happy week and love to you!
thanks! a frozen yogurt chain just came to town…and they really CAME TO TOWN. There’s like 5 new locations and we’ve never spent more than $5 together…awesome.
I am so glad they show How I met your mother here – I seriously love NPH on that show!
Hehe, my husband and I break out in random singing and dancing modes too!
I love that modcloth dishrack too – so French chic indeed!
Congrats on the engagement and lmk if I can ever help with any random wedding planning advice!
thanks so much and singing and dancing is a must. we watch law & order ALL the time and always have a 2-minute dance party during the intro song…must do.
fantastic! and that biggie is a cutie pie. i couldn’t get our cats to sit still like that if i tried. with treats. or toys. or something else they like.
and lovin those eyebrows, girl! nicely done.
AND. wonderful hodge podge. as hard as we all work, those weekends are always so wonderful and needed. hopefully they happen for you two more often!
haha my eyebrows are the bane of my existence. no lie. they would just take over my whole face if they had their way…i completely agree…you and josh getting some q time?
Lack of meat is ok. I’m a vegetarian. 🙂
Kitties are just completely ADORABLE.
(snuggle soft)
OK, so y’all are at UNT? I just didn’t get this before.
How did you get from IL to TX?
Seems like I need to read some of the archives to get the back story.
So this is definitely a wedding planning challenge.
Good luck on your midterm exams, coming up, right?
Thanks for the sweet comment on my cross stitch aspirations. Yes, hopefully they will turn out cute and not just weird looking blobs.
oh, honey. don’t worry about going through our random and crazy archive. there’s only one post about how we got together…and it pretty much sums us up. if you want to check it out, click here: http://bit.ly/auEC2R
Congrats on the freshly pressed!! BTW, your kitties are adorable.
Thank you so much! They are our little rockstars.
I really want potato skins now.
Hi sweetie! I am so glad to get a glimpse into you life and home with this post – lotsa meat, in my opinion! 😉 I think I have 2 doggie versions of your 2 cute kitties! Congrats on the freshly pressed – so very deserved!! xo!
